This is the "Hot Shoe" version of the swing down lamp. The plate is permanently mounted to the headliner, interior roof of a vehicle and powered all the time or upon ignition. The lamp can be stowed away when not in use. Perfect for undercover vehicles. The hot shoe magnetic mount attached to the lamp slides into the plate and is ready for use.
Swing down operates on a spring system - up to conceal, down to reveal.
On/Off Switch on rear of unit.
These lamps were used by many California police agencies including LAPD and LA County Sheriff in the late 80s up until the mid 2000s, circa 2010.
Comes with leatherette bag for lamp storage when not in use.
These units are hard to find.
🔴 Air Bag Warning 🔵
Swing down lamps, stationary mounted lamps, hot shoe lamps, and any other visor type lamps, which are designed to be mounted in the area of the passengerside sun visor, should not be used in a vehicle which is equipped with a functional passengerside air bag, when the air bag has not been de-activated for law enforcement use or de-activated by the end user. No warning lamp should be mounted in the deployment zone of any functional air bag. Federal law now specifically provides an exemption from functional passengerside air bags for law enforcement vehicles.
